Hip Hop Around the World

Shake the Dust - Uganda Sneak Preview from Loose Luggage on Vimeo.

*Tagging Amy in this.--You will love this. Especially 3:06 - 3:10. You'll die at the cuteness in that shot.

I just learned of Shake the Dust, a film project that is currently being created about hip-hop and breakdancing around the world. The above clip shows a preview of the crew's filming in Uganda.

This will make you happy.

I've always felt very strongly about music and dance as a way to build happiness, bring people together, and create peace. There are so many documentaries out there that focus on social problems and offer little or no solution for how to combat them. This is a happy film. A film that focuses on the good aspects of third-world countries and spreads the message that there are good people and good things happening in places that we, because of large media outlets, typically associate with war and violence and corruption.

Discoveries like learning there is a hip-hop culture in Yemen are reasons why I love travel. I'm so grateful to the internet for helping make those discoveries more accessible and affordable. :)
